Södertälje's City Theatre (Södertälje stadsscen) is the main receiving house for professional touring productions in the Södertälje area. Following an extensive refurbishment and modernisation as part of the new City Hall project the main stage, Estrad, is now categorised as a class-A stage - the equivalent of a British number one touring venue. Trombon is our multi-purpose space with a small stage, in-house PA, lighting and conference equipment.
What is now Södertälje's City Theatre started to take shape in 1969 and was officially opened as the new Community Centre in September 1970. Thus September 2010 marked the venue's 40th birthday! From the late 1990s the building was called Telge Forum although the large stage Estrad and the multi-purpose room Trombon have always retained their original names. Today the City Theatre is an important part of the new City Hall while retaining its function as Södertälje's primary Number One touring venue.
