Södertälje is the region's leading industrial centre and the hub for Stockholm's manufacturing industry. The labour market and industry take centre stage in our work with international corporations and groups who are outside the labour market.
Our position as the Stockholm region's manufacturing centre and domain of international corporations has put us firmly on the world map. Our programme of helping young unemployed people towards self-sufficiency is one of the most successful of its kind in the country.
Our method of handling the integration of refugees has attracted the attention of both Swedish and US heads of state. We are continuing our programme to introduce refugees into society and help them become self-supporting, either through jobs or studies, in Södertälje or one of the other municipalities with which we collaborate.
Our two resident corporations Astra Zeneca and Scania account for one-third of all the jobs in Södertälje. The municipality is actively working to strengthen the local business climate.
The municipality is laying the groundwork for new start-ups and supports entrepreneurship and business initiatives. We are also working to improve our service and enhance the conditions for companies that are already established.
