Support, help and advice

If you are hit by an emotional crisis or mental breakdown your first port of call should be your health care centre and your second port of call should be psychiatric department of Södertälje Hospital. These pages outline our work with psychiatric treatment, drug/alcohol abusers and social security benefit.

The rehabilitation departments provide medical care, advice, support and therapeutic activities. There are also different types of accommodation and you can get support in your own home.

The Södertälje model means continuity in the contacts and long-term support. Personal assistants help the mentally disturbed, functionally impaired adults over the age 18 in their daily lives. Read more about the Södertälje model and personal assistants on the following pages.

Help for drug/alcohol abusers

Your health care centre, employer's health care service or local drug and alcohol abuse centre can provide support. In Södertälje the social services department cooperates with the county Centre for Dependency Disorders.

We also have an open health care team for people aged 21 and older with alcohol and/or narcotics problems. Relatives can also contact us for help.

Young people can turn to the guidance counsellor if they or a relative needs someone to talk to about their alcohol or drug habit.

Income support

Income support is also known as social security benefit. To apply you should contact the municipal social services department.
