Södertälje is the municipality of possibilities for young people. Campus Telge and a number of businesses are available to help young people get a foothold on the labour market. We also have Kulturskolan, a network of youth centres and more than 400 clubs and associations.
In addition to municipal upper-secondary schools with varying profiles and orientations, there are also independent upper-secondary schools, and municipal and independent schools for young people with learning disabilities.
All upper-secondary schools have school boards with student majorities and the student councils enjoy a considerable influence in school planning.
The Youth Council represents the views of young people in key issues and voices them to politicians.
Education and recreation
You can attend municipal adult education classes from the autumn term of the year you reach 20. Study associations and folk high schools (Folkhögskola) comprise other education alternatives.
Kulturskolan has a range of courses in photography, dance, drama and film studies. There are also orchestras, choirs and cultural projects that you can join. Classes are held after school hours. A fee is charged for the courses.
We have youth centres that provide activities in a drug-free environment. Södertälje also has a wide range of sporting facilities that cater to all preferences and tastes. The municipality boasts more than 400 cultural and recreational clubs and associations.
